Q: What was your first experience in theatre?
A: I was in church choir and did some dancing from time to time but my big BREAK OUT moment was when I sang in the fifth grade talent show: My Heart Will Go On WITH the Titanic movie soundtrack. Like I literally sang along with Celine Dion. And then after that I met an amazing teacher who pushed me to keep at it and opened the door to a lot of opportunities for me.
Q: What is the best piece of career advice anyone has ever given you?
A: Always be yourself, don’t worry about what anyone else is doing, stay funny, don’t compare and despair. All that good stuff that I need to constantly remind myself.
Q: Tell us about a backstage or onstage mishap you lived through.
A: I was doing a Christmas show in Wisconsin. There were six people in the cast and during the finale, which was ‘Silent Night’, we had a crazy, big quick change. A female undergarment got hooked on the bottom of one of my cast mate’s dress and she was dragging it onstage with her without knowing. Needless to say when the rest of the cast saw this, we lost our minds onstage, just laughing so hard. The audience eventually saw what had happened and was laughing with us.
Q: What is your dream role/show?
A: The TOUGHEST question. Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Louise in Gypsy. Oh! And Nancy in Oliver! Is one I would like to revisit. I could just go on and on.
Q: What is your current guilty TV Pleasure?
A: I watch a lot of Bravo. A LOT.
Thank you Allison- can’t wait to see you in another STL show soon!!
