Michael James Reed and Taylor Steward give world-class performances.
Blue Rose Theatre Collective announced today that it will be producing the St. Louis debut of Halley Feiffer’s I’m Gonna Pray For You So Hard. Tom Martin directs the exceedingly smart, darkly funny, and heartbreaking drama which opens October 20th at Satori. It will run Thursdays through Sundays at 8PM until November 6th.
The play is about the ancient forces which make up the relationship between father and daughter. Ella’s sole aim in life to make her famous playwright father David proud. David, having run away from home at a young age and risen to great success, hopes his daughter will surpass him as an artist. And while the love between these characters is palpable, the conflict behind such high expectations boil over into toxic territory.
Michael James Reed brings David to life in the most present and terrifying of ways. Taylor Steward plays Ella with the authentic enthusiasm of a daughter inspired. This two person cast presents a performance of caliber not often seen in St. Louis.
Make no mistake about it: you’ll be coming back to this play for years. It will be a personal milestone.
